What's New
Fortuna Fire Command Vehicle

Community enterprises working together have given Bendigo fire services the final sum needed to purchase a new Forward Command Vehicle ahead of bushfire season.
Strathfieldsaye & Districts Community Enterprise and Bendigo Northern District Community Enterprise with the Community Enterprise Foundation have donated $6000 that comprises the final part of Fortuna Fire Brigades Group contribution to the total cost of the new vehicle.
The Fortuna group is the coordinating body for 10 fire brigades – Bendigo, District 2 HQ, Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Huntly, Kangaroo Flat, Lockwood, Maiden Gully, Marong, and Strathfieldsaye.
The group’s brigades protect much of the structural risk in the City of Greater Bendigo, the open grasslands in the west of the municipality and assist the Department of Sustainability and Environment in national and regional parks.
The community donation will assist in the fit out of the vehicle. The Fortuna group has chosen a Prado for its off-road performance. It will be used in a range of incident management roles. The enterprises who contributed funds appreciate the protective role fire brigades play in their respective communities.
SDCE and BNDCE partner with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and Bendigo Community Telco which allows them to improve existing infrastructure and build new community assets. Cheque handover took place: Thursday 13th October at the Maiden Gully Fire Station with Andrew Howlett (Maiden Gully Fire Brigade), Samantha McGregor (SDCE), Mike Lowther and Sandy Young (BNDCE) and members of the Eaglehawk Fire Brigade.
