The Bendigo Northern District Community Enterprise(BNDCE) were proud to present two defibrillators to clubs in the Heathcote & District Football/Netball League. The presentation was made at the White Hills football ground. White Hills and Huntly were the two successful recipients of these life-saving machines, which will be available for emergency use (if needed) during the 2011 finals and then for upcoming seasons. The equipment will be available for use by trained personnel of all user groups at these ovals.

Background Information
Following the tragic death of a 19yo Rupertswood footballer in May 2010, Defib Your Club, For Life has emerged as a non for profit organisation to help reduce the number of cardiac related deaths at sporting venues.
MICA paramedic Andrew White started his campaign, Defib your club, for life, to stress the importance of defibrillators and why all sports clubs should have one. The life-saving machine kick starts the heart during cardiac arrest.
Our goal is simple, to put as many defibrillators in to clubs as possible. We want to empower clubs to react to their own cardiac emergency armed with the appropriate equipment, skill and understanding to do so prior to ambulance arrival.
For every minute that passes following a cardiac collapse, equates to a 10% less chance of survival. Access to public defibrillators is vital, they are simple to use and may help save the life of someone close to you.
The message is about providing a safe venue for the players, officials and supporters by empowering clubs to react to their own emergency prior to Ambulance arrival, which in the country may be longer than expected.
